MARINE&TERRESTRIAL PARK OF CABO DE GATA-NIJAR

Cabo de Gata - Nìjar One of the last hidden paradises of the mediterranean. The Marine and Terrestrial Park of Cabo de Gata -Nijar extends a 30 km of coastal band. edged a chain of desert mountains that hide wonderful beaches and creeks. You have never been able to imagine such an absolute contrast.

The Park, classified by the UNESCO -- as World Reserve of the biosphere -- covers 38.000 hectares land and 12.000 hectares of marine mile coast with altitudes between 500 meters high and 60 meters under the level of the sea.
About 3.500 people are living arround the year in this area including all districts. The climate is mediterranean sub-desert type. The average annual temperature of the air is about 20ºC and the water is about 17,7ºC.

For sure, the sun is the essential element. With more of 300 hours of sun in the year, this area is the warmest and the dryest area of the Iberian peninsula and by extension, of Europe.
